Cancun – the Place where You Can Visit the Parallel Dimensions of Present and Past

Cancun is the tourist paradise in Mexico combining natural beauty, incredible entertainment possibilities and outdoor activities. Its close proximity to USA makes it a preferable destination for many Americans, and when we add to that the cheap flight options, it becomes more clear why Cancun will never cease to captivate the hearts of its endless visitors. The city has learned how to offer practically everything just to make its guests happy: noisy parties opposed to peaceful relaxation on the beautiful beaches, family fun activities in water parks, dolphin swims and, of course, a tour through the Mayan ruins. Cancun has successfully found the balance between the commercial pleasures and the uniqueness that every ancient city, being also a cradle of curious civilization, is naturally gifted with. Undoubtedly, you will like it so much that you simply wouldn't want to waste precious time in too much sleeping wanting to try and see everything possible for the time being.

Cancun can be conditionally subdivided into three basic areas:  the Town, the Ecological Reserve (as its name suggests the area is abundant with natural sights like swamps, gorgeous lakes and rich foliage being an excellent zone for some hiking and nature walks) and  The Hotel District.

The Hotel District comprises multiple luxury hotels (four and five starts) towering above the main boulevard. The area gains the most solid revenue for the entire Mexico being the economic boost for the country. Concentrating crowds of thousand of tourists, the district brags a dense clustering of international exquisite restaurants, attractive clubs and discos, and various options for amusement.

The Town of Cancun is somewhat a contrast to the Hotel district with its more slow-paced, even pastoral and provincial lifestyle – the shops and dining places are as plain as they can be, and the sense of simplicity and easiness won't leave you while being there. Restaurants are offering local specialties and many tourists are impressed by the traditional home-made Mexican food. Not excluding themselves from the forms of entertainment, a number of cinemas, shopping venues and  theaters are arranged along the main street.

The ones who love nature would be fascinated by the amazing biodiversity that the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve contains. Being a natural shelter for numerous animal and plant species, including endangered ones, the Reserve is the largest ecosystem in Mexico spreading over hundreds of miles, and that is why many non-profit and ecologically orientated organizations are making huge efforts to preserve its genuine look. And to make the third Cancun district even more tempting and intriguing, we have to point out that ancient archeology also reigns together with the glorious nature. Multiple archeological landmarks scattered along the vicinities of the Reserve will bring you back in time following the steps of one of the most genuine civilizations that the world has witnessed, that of the Mayans. Filled with mystery and unrevealed secrets, Mayan people had left us numerous traces to explore and bewilder at, and facing cultural challenge form this scale will certainly make you stare, contemplate and think about more general philosophical issues like humankind, wisdom, cultural differences and cycles of knowledge.

The culture of the Mayans survived for almost 3000 years before it mysteriously disappeared leaving us precious cultural legacy of majestic architectural structures, an incomparable style of art pieces, and astronomical and mathematical systems which outrivaled  the other known by then. Cancun has the blessing to shelter one of the seven wonders of the world – Chichen Itza, the breath-taking pyramid, a symbol of the majesty of this one of a kind civilization.

Guest Post: Spring Break Travel Destinations in the States

This is a guest post from Tiffany on behalf of Hotels.com. If you'll be needing a Las Vegas hotel, be sure to check out their site for deals on cheap Las Vegas hotels.

As Spring Break kicks off, students all over the United States are enjoying their party-destinations for this year’s festivities. If you still haven’t made up your mind on where to go or want to plan something really last minute, take a look through our recommendations below and get booking!

But first, do you know the origins of Spring Break? What is now a seasonal bacchanal (a drunken and riotous celebration), started life as an innocent training holiday back in 1935 when the Colgate University men's swimming team went to practice at Fort Lauderdale over break.

Over the years, more and more students journeyed to Florida for this holiday until, in 1985, the local government passed laws to restrict parties. Of course, this just meant that students started to look elsewhere for their Spring Break, which leads us nicely on to the list below:

Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Spring Break at Lake Havasu is affordable and fun. If you’re into water sports, sunny weather and plenty of parties then this might just be the right destination for you and your friends. Most of the action takes place on the beautiful banks of Lake Havasu and the Colorado River, and the best time to visit is from the beginning of March through to the end of April. There are lots of package deals still available and you’ll be spoilt for choice for things to see, eat, drink and party to!

Panama City Beach, Florida

More than half a million party-goers flock to Panama City Beach in Florida each year and the destination is known as one of the top locations for Spring Break – the town actually calls itself the Spring Break Capital of the World! With nearly 30 miles of white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and a nearby strip of mega clubs, you can see why it’s earned such a great reputation.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Vegas is a fairly new destination for Spring Breakers, but it’s making quite a name for itself already. Earlier this year, it was home to MTV Spring Break and thousands of students have chosen it as their party-destination – it is after all the city that never sleeps! Spring Break in Las Vegas is 21+ (which means no freshmen!), and there’s everything from college poker tournaments and massive nightclubs, through to hangover pool parties and world-famous DJs.

Tampa, Florida

A reliable and popular Spring Break destination, with plenty going on throughout the party season. Tampa Bay actually covers three cities (Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater), all of which cater to the Spring Break crowd. There are some amazing beaches in this area and you’ll never be short of fun activities, poolside parties and lots of new friends.

South Padre Island, Texas

Easy to get to and one of the cheapest options for Spring Break, South Padre Island is more popular this year than ever before. There’s plenty of space to chill out on the white sandy beaches, as well as everything from dolphin tours to kite-surfing and skydiving for the more adventurous party-goers. Of course, the nightlife is non-stop and there are plenty of clubs that’ll keep you dancing all night long.

Escape the City for Some Outdoor Fun in California

As fun and entertaining as a city like Los Angeles can be, after a while everyone needs a break. The city life can be stressful, not to mention claustrophobic. Sometimes you just need to unwind, breathe some clean air, and get closer to nature. Fortunately, just outside of the city, beyond the San Gabriel Mountains is Palmdale.

Situated in the Mojave Desert, Palmdale is a beauty to behold, especially in the spring time when the desert is in full bloom. During this time it's always a great idea to head out to see all the natural beauty Palmdale has to offer.

If you like to go camping and hiking, then Palmdale is the place for you. With many different campgrounds to choose from, your options are wide open. Of course, one of the biggest camping destinations in the area is the Angeles National Forest, where you can stare in amazement at the natural wonders just a few hours away from the urban jungle of Los Angeles. Come see the view and hike up the vast mountains and valleys, and explore the massive trees, streams and waterfalls that hide among them.

If you don't want to go camping, but still want to view the beauty, there is a great selection of Palmdale hotels in the area to choose from, perfect for those that don't have camping equipment, but still want to participate in the outdoor fun!

There are those who are physically unable to go hiking or camping, and that's okay too, because Palmdale has Highway 18, which offers a scenic drive through the mountains. Anyone who wants to take part in viewing the wonders of nature, but is physically limited, can still see it all on a nice long drive. Even if you plan to hike in the forest, you can still enjoy a great highway to drive up and down for the day. The 18 is perfect for that; many love to go up and down it on the motorcycle or car with the windows down to feel that air shooting past you as you drive through a beautiful landscape.

If all of that sounds fun, but you just want to relax, then there are of course other options to choose from. In Palmdale, there is fishing in Seal Beach where you can just kick back, cast a line, and wait for that bite.

In the end, there are plenty of things to do in Palmdale to help you escape from the city and let you clear your mind. So take a trip out and give yourself a small vacation that you so dearly deserve.
