Best Beaches on the French Riviera

One of the perks of holidaying in the South of France is to relax on the glamorous Riviera beaches with their magnificent views and glamorous setting. Boasting of some of the best beaches in Europe, the French Riviera is just the destination for nature lovers, beach bums, families and jet setters alike. Here is a look at some of the many excellent beaches on the Riviera.

Plage des Graniers, St.Tropez

The stunning sand beaches of St.Tropez are popular with locals and tourists alike, and Plage des Garniers is one of them. Easily accessible from just about anywhere in St.Tropez, this family-friendly beach is one of the city's best known ones. It is located below the citadel overlooking the harbour. Offering beach-side playgrounds, Plage des Graniers is ideal for families with children. It can however get quite crowded during the summers.

Mala Plage, Cap d’Ail

In stark contrast to the Plage des Graniers, Mala Plage is a secluded blue flag beach located in the quaint town of Cap d'Ail. The lush landscape of pine trees and limestone cliffs adds to the pleasure of lounging on the smooth sand-and-pebble beach. Despite being only ten minutes away from Monaco, the beach does not get very crowded even in the summer months.

Paloma Plage, Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat

A favourite haunt of the jet-setting crowd, Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat is home to Paloma Plage, one of the best beaches the French Riviera has to offer. Some of the fun activities that you can indulge in at Paloma include jet skiing, swimming off the pontoon or enjoying a pedalo ride. The view of sailboats, yachts, and cliffs the beach offers is one of its big attractions. Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat also boasts of some of the most luxurious French Riviera villas and hotels.

Plage de Notre-Dame, Ile de Porquerolles

Located on the beautiful French Riviera island of Ile de Porquerolles, Plage de Notre-Dame greets you with a lovely whiff of pine and eucalyptus trees that dot its landscape. There is an old-world charm about this beach, and it is ideal if you prefer a more serene setting. When you are done admiring the stunning views, you can swim in the blue-green waters of the beach or go snorkelling.

Plage De La Garoupe, Cap d’Antibes

The La Garoupe bay offers a great view of Antibes and is home to the Plage De La Garoupe, a beach frequented by the wealthy cosmopolitan crowd. The beach's swankiness is evident in the designer swimsuits and free flow of champagne in the private piers. Its beach clubs are popular as is the snorkelling. Cap d'Antibes also has some of the best French Riviera villas and holidays apartments.
